Risk assessment

Risk assessment

Bad weather – In some of my shots I will be shooting at ward Jackson Park. I am hoping that it will be sunny because weather like that will fit the mood of my chosen song. I will solve this problem by checking the weather forecast daily.

Deleted footage – If I don’t upload my footage onto my computer and the hand the video camera in, than it will be deleted which means I will have take the footage again. I will solve this problem by uploading my footage after every time I shoot.

Safety in the studio – In the film studio they are a lot of big cables and wires lying around, which are easy to trip over whilst working. I will solve this problem by making sure that the cables and wires have been put to one side which makes them easy to see and miss them.

The public - Ward Jackson Park is a public park, so while I’m shooting, a member of the public could walk in front of my shot or the background, which means ill have to take the shot again. I will solve this problem by asking members of the public to wait whilst I film or before check to see that there is no one walking towards my shot.

Incidental sound – Shooting in public places such as Ward Jackson Park will mean there will be incidental sound coming from traffic and members of the public in the background. I will solve this problem in editing, by editing out the sound in that shot.

Initial ideas

Initial ideas

Locations

I am currently thinking about using my college studio, which has a green screen, which would be useful in more video. Also I might be using a stage at my local music venue called "The Studio" because it will hopefully give of more of a live effect.

Genre

At the moment I am thinking about doing an indie rock genre, artist such as "Mumford & sons", "Arcade Fire" and "Vampire Weekend" to influence myself.

Lighting

Since the genre I am possibly using is normally slower than other poplar music, I am thinking about having slightly dimmed lights so that it was fit the mood of the song, and I might have very bright lights for others to illustrate some parts of the song.

Shot types

In my video I am thinking of having a lot of long shots because it will capture the whole of the performer (meat shot) and it will establish the shots. In a stereotypical indie rock music video, a lot of long shots are also used to capture the full band or artist.

Costumes and props

I am thinking about using acoustic guitars as props, because this is commonly used in indie rock music videos

Main performance

The main performance will most likely be done by myself. I will try to act like the actual performer by being random and spontaneous in my performance.

advert analysis

The album advert i have chosen to do is Led Zepplins - motherhip (or greatest hits. the images used in this advert is an image of a plimp hovering over a thearte with spotlights on it. The colour scheme involved is black, white and red. this colour scheme has black and white in it, this makes the advert look old fashioned, like from the era from when then band formed and the red represents the bands new, remastered songs.

the poster has a strange font with some of the letter, only for the name of the band and album title as well. the band name is at the top of the poster in a white and the album title is on the side of the plimp in red. have the text on the side of the plimp could represent the bands status in popular music. the bands name is a bigger size than the album name, representing the band is bigger than the album. The poster has four symbols postitioned at the bottom of the poster. the four symbols represent each member of the band.

Digipak Analysis

The digipak I have chosen is Oasis's, Stop the Clock album which is also there greatest hits. On the front cover of the digipak there are four images, the first image is at the top left and it is an image of the bands name, in the case Oasis, this image is of the bands logo, which is there name in a white font and a black background. This is helping the audience identify the digipaks content. Another image on the font cover is a wooden wardrobe, inside are toys and clothing such as Elvis figures, snow white and the seven dwarves ornaments, an Elvis jacket and other vintage objects. The designer was Sir Peter Blake, who also designed the Beatles cover for Sgt. Pepper and the Lonely Hearts Club Band. The third image on the front cover is of a door with a blue background, painted on it is CD 1 inside the digipak painted twice. The last image is of a wooden table with objects on top of it and beneath it. These objects are a similar style to the ones inside the wardrobe, which are old, worn out toys which are from the 1940's till 1960's. All of these images and objects create an age to the album, making the album feel and look like it’s not from this time, probably the reason the band named the album "stop the clocks".

inside, the digipak has four spaces, the first is a small book featuring images of the band in different years, song titles and the lyrics to the songs and a small history about the band. the second and third place in the digipak is the two main CD's featuring all the songs, on CD1 it is an old fashioned roulette wheel with a red ring around the outside. CD 2 is the same to CD 1, but has a blue ring around it. the fourth place is a DVD about the band and is titled "Big Brother". the CD has a image of the front cover but at a different angle.

audience profile

My artist is called Adam Green; his genre of music is called indie rock. Indie rock became mainstream in the late 2000's, with band such as kings of Leon, arcade fire and vampire weekend.

The general audience for indie rock is males and females aged 14 - 30 years old. This is because indie rock is a fairly modern genre of music, this means older generations of people won't be used to it and prefer there generations sounds of music.

In an indie rock music video the stereotypical mise en scene the audience is likely to see is a rundown warehouse like kings of Leon - sex is on fire. Or just inside a basic studio performing in an entertaining scenario’s such as Vampire weekend - A punk and Arctic Monkey's - I bet you look good on the dance floor. These styles of videos give the songs a basic and simplistic atmosphere to it.

The background of this album is black and has all of the text in white, this plain font could represent the bands maturity. the title of the album and the band appear on the cover. the four images which have a window theme, is of the four main cartoon characters the band has created, some of these represent the real members of the band. other bands who have use this window effect are Blur and The Beatles.

My First Post

So far in my course i have developed my skills by using a program called final cut, in my last course i used a program called i movie, so far i prefer using final cut than i movie. My reasons are, that in final cut it is easier to move clips around and positioning them in between clip rather than having the difficulty of moving them round in i movie. Some of the editing skilled i have used so far have been very useful such as cropping parts of a clip so make the video clip looks more smooth while watching.

In my course i have also filmed a music video, so are i have imported them into final cut which was faster than importing into i movie. the music video i am filming has so far been a success and in two days around ready filming the whole video. the song we have chosen to do is a song by "The Doors" and is called "The Crystal Ship". we filmed in a small music rehearsal room, i believe this was a good place to start filming because it was small, but easy to work in. the song is only 2 min 33 sec, so compared to modern songs it a short, this provided us with more time to shoot and edit the video.
